and they’re off . . .

Today is the start of the Bazaar Socks KAL and we already have some questions from our participants.

Gail asked:  I’ve had a problem already not understanding PGR provisional cast on.  :-(  After several hours of frustration, I just used the crochet provisional cast on.  Is there a tutorial anywhere showing the one referenced on the pattern?

Yes, Gail, there is a wonderful video tutorial at KnittingHelp.com.  The tuorial is about half way down the the page.  I think I will be using the circular needle version, looks like it would be easier to start knitting the other way with.

This will be an adventure for me as I have never done a toe up sock.  I have my sock yarn, but I need to figure out how I am going to mix the colors.  Time to pull out the colored pencils and graph paper.   I think it will be a couple of days before I will be starting my socks since I have sick children at home right now.

Anyone else?

bazaar socks

I was looking at the Interweave Knits summer preview and came across the cutest pair of socks, Bazaar Socks.  I love these socks so much that I am going to host a Knit Along for them.

This KAL will start on May 16th, that is the issue ‘on sale’ date, and will end on August 15th, about the time the next issue will be comming out.

E-mail me, or leave a comment, to join, include your name and blog - web page - photo gallery where you will be showing off your socks.  I will place a list of participants in my sidebar with links.

ETA: If you do not have a way of posting photos/updates to the web (blog, gallery, etc) I can post them here with the updates.  If you would like to set up your own blog I would recommend www.wordpress.com, they are free and easy to set up while still having lots of layout options.

Updates will be posted weekly.

Now go and download that pattern and get ready to knit!
