I almost forgot

Just under the wire, four minutes to go.  After I put the kids to bed I started cleaning the refrigerator, there is a mystery smell.  Blech!  Okay, I’ve posted, back to the trenches.

looking back

I was looking back in the blog archives and I discovered that a year ago today my Saturday knitting group at VYT started meeting, mostly by accident.  Last fall I started going to VYT on Saturday mornings to have a cuppa and knit, by myself.  One Saturday Annie and Terri arrived, they had been knitting down at Third Place but with the holidays approaching Third Place was getting a bit loud, so they migrated up to VYT.  I knew Annie from the Thursday morning knitting group, so we all sat together and knit and drank tea.  The rest as they say is history.

This group has become my sanity, I’m a sahm and once a week I get to go out, by myself, and spend time talking to adults.  Adults who I don’t have to remind to blow their noses, or to wash their hands, or tell them to stop jumping on the furniture, or ask them if they need to ‘make tinkle in the potty’.  Heaven on earth!

It has been a wonderful year, we have added many knitters to our group, some are regulars and some come and go as they can.  I love meeting new knitters, and spinners.  This group is the reason I started spinning, darn them.  I can’t wait to see what this group looks like a year from now.

i don’t wanna

I don’t wanna do dishes.

I don’t wanna vacuum the floor.

I don’t wanna do laundry.

I don’t wanna cook dinner.

I don’t wanna clean the bathroom.
(men are disgusting)

I don’t wanna answer “but, why?” one more time.

I don’t wanna have to say “stop hitting your sibling” over and over.

I don’t wanna put put away my toys knitting supplies.
(that seem to be strewn all over the house)

I don’t wanna read that same children’s book for the 1000th time.

I don’t wanna pay the bills.

I don’t wanna be reasonable.

I don’t wanna be mature.

I don’t wanna act like a grown up.

I don’t wanna eat my vegetables.

i don’t wanna exercise.

I don’t wanna drink plain water.

I’m feeling a bit contrary today, can you tell?

burn the stash

Very tempting to do after getting most of it cataloged into Ravelry along with photos in Flickr.

So far 41 pictures in the sock yarn folder and I’m sure I’m missing a couple . . . so lets call it enough yarn for 45 pairs of socks.   Sweater amounts of yarn were definately fewer and mostly kid sweater amounts . . . 16 total . . . 2 in amounts for sweaters for me . . . maybe 5 average adult sweaters of various types . . . 9 or so in kids amounts.  The rest of the stash is mostly in ones and twos, sure there may be a four or five here or there, but mostly it’s ones and twos.

What the heck am I going to do with all those singles.  Yes, I have One-Skein Wonder and several other books with small projects but I could be knitting hats, scarves and mitts until I’m 60.  Guess I could do a couple of Baby Surprise Jackets and tuck them away for gifts, same with the hats, scarves, and mitts.

But, really, almost half the stash?  I guess the thing that sucks it that almost all of those ones/twos/threes were purchased for specific projects.  This all goes back to the “talks a big game, follow through sucks”. *sigh*

what was I thinking?

nablo07_120x90

Like a fool I signed up for the NaBloPoMo.  Ha, what was I thinking?  I mean, yeah, I talk a good game, but when it comes down to it, the follow through sucks.  Case in point, Socktober, had ever intention of knitting lots and lots of socks. How many did I knit? None. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Last year I had 27 posts for NoBloPoMo, close, but no cigar.  We’ll see how it goes this year.

Oh, and just because that isn’t enough torture, I also doing the NaKniSweMo.  I didn’t sign up officially for this one, but I opened my mouth and told the Saturday knitting group “sure, I’ll knit a sweater in a month with the rest of you.”  (palm hits forehead)
