What the heck was I thinking?  Great idea, so much fun at the time, felt hung over the entire next day.  I think I’m getting to old . . .

I arrived just after 6pm, found a corner, cast on for my third Steppe Sweater (pdf) and got down to the business of knitting.   There were 20+ knitters, coffee, tea, and lots of food.  What a great combination!

While we knitted TMK blogged, so you can see the details here. (Did you know TMK is thinking of getting chickens?  Isn’t that great!  I almost had her convinced getting a duck to eat the slugs would be a great idea, but I think Ryan nixed that idea.  BTW, ducks lay eggs too, and they’re great for baking.)

The later (or earlier) it got them fewer of us there were.  I finally gave up at 4:30am, Jessica and I walked out at the same time.  When you have to think about how to do garter stitch you know it’s time to throw in the towel.  This is as far I made it on the Steppe Sweater . . .

. . . the body up to the armholes, one side of the front, and 1/2 of the other side of the front. For a size 10-13yrs, I figure that’s not to shabby for one night’s knitting.

I slept until about 11, but, as I mentioned brfore, felt hung over for the rest of the day.  Ugh!  Never again.  Well, maybe never.

flew the coop

The chicks were moved out to the coop last night.  Gimpy is not amused, but dealing with it as well as can be expected.  The girls are fully feathered, the weather has been mild/warm and we just got tired of moving the chicks back and forth between the garage brooder and the chickie playpen in the yard.

Over Memorial Day weekend Hubby’s brother, SIL and niece were out here from NY.  We all planned to get together on Sunday for dinner.  Although it was the end of May, I had not shipped nieces x-mas gift to her, because I had not sewn the lining.  The knitting was finished, but no lining had been sewn, and other knitting projects caught my attention.

Now the pressure was on, I had a week to get it done, no problem.  Sunday morning (yes, Sunday, shut up) I pulled out the sewing machine, rummaged thru the  fabric stash, and the zipper stash (yes, I have a zipper stash) and sewed up the lining for Quinn.  While on the ferry boat, on the way to dinner, I sewed the lining into the bag, took photos on the dashboard and wrapped it.  The bag was gifted and very well received, even five months late.

yarn: Cascade 220 Superwash
needles: Clover Bamboo
notes: I loved knitting this bag.  Ok, eventually I loved it.  I had some trouble at the beginning, but that was all operator error, nothing to do with the pattern it’s self.  The pattern is wonderfully well written and the results are amazing.  This pattern did offer some challanges for me, grafting in pattern, sewing in a zipper and lining , and knitting 12′ of i-cord (it was supposed to be 16′ but I gave up at 12′).  I was thrilled with the way the lining turned out and I was lucky to find an almost perfect zipper match.

worst blogger ever

If there was an award for the worst blogger ever, I would get it.  Okay, there prolly is one out there and I just don’t know about it, I’m expecting notification of my nomination any minute now.

Things have been happening, have I been blogging about them?  NO!  Have I even taken any pictures?  Umm, sometimes, but not often enough.  Have I been knitting?  Yes!

More details to follow. =)
