Four years ago yesterday, I introduced my daughter to her little brother, she thought he was the best thing in the world. She would just watch him while he slept and pat him softly on the head. Now, she thinks he’s pesky and I often have to tell her to stop sitting on him, but he adores her completely.
My dad and Bubba share a birthday. When I told my dad my due date he responded with,”Maybe he’ll be born on my birthday.” “No!”, I yelled, that would add 9 days, no way in heck. Well, he was born on dad’s birthday and so instead of naming him Jacob he was named after my father. Guess it was meant to be. Nine. Days. Late.
I made a banana cake with chocolate frosting, it was a hit.
Daughter was just as excited about the gifts as Bubba.  He received several nice gifts, including quite a few books, some Playdoh, and a Gears! set (very cool building set). Bubba did a bit of reading while Hubby decided ’some assembly required’ sucks!

. . . how much I love Elann.com? Every time I order from them I remember how much I love them. I placed an order with another company on Thursday and with Elann.com the next Tuesday. This is what arrived today, while I was making lunch for the kids:
I put it aside, even though I wanted to rip it open right then and there, and finished makeing lunch for the kids. As I was serving up the grub my friend Jennifer called and we started chatting. All of a sudden I jumped up, “Hey! I got a package in the mail today!” and I ripped that box open lickity split. This is what was inside:
. . . sock yarn! Cotton blend sock yarn! Brightly colored, cotton blend sock yarn! From Elann.com! Daughter has already claimed several skeins.  The ones she claimed will also qualify for Project Spectrum, guess I will be casting on some socks shortly.
I’ll keep watching for the order from the other company, but I’m sure it won’t be here for another 7 to 10 days. Waiting builds character, right?

I have been seeing this one around the blogsphere, but I really like the one Chris got for her cat Chaos.

I have things to blog about and do I blog? No, what a slacker, sheesh.
Last Friday Hubby stayed home from work. Since it’s March Madness, there is no news so they didn’t need Hubby, he’s been putting in a ton of overtime so he took a sick day. Since he was home I took a friend her b’day present, only a month late, and took her out to lunch. We headed off to the University Village and ran a couple of errands before heading to Zao Noodle Bar for lunch. The place was packed, it always is at lunch, so we had to wait a bit before being seated, so worth the wait.ÂÂ
About half way thru lunch the business men seated next to us left an as two women were being seated I noticed one of them was wearing a lace leaf shawl. “Hey, I’ve made that shawl.”ÂÂ

At whip up there is a write up about, and a link to, a post at simple sparrow that has inspired the beginning of the Use What I Have Challenge, for the month of April.  I have joined. This means craft purchases at all in April, no yarn, no fabric, no patterns, no notion, no books . . . nada . . . zilch. eeep!ÂÂ

Zeneedle tagged all Project Spectrum participants to see what they could find around the house in red and pink.

I finished Odessa last night and finally caught Daughter so I could plunk it on her head to get a picture before it got too dark outside.
pattern: Odessa by Grumperina (like you didn’t know)
yarn: Rowan Cashsoft DK and 110 pearly beads
needles: Clover Bamboo
started: March 10th     finished: March 12th
notes: Knit as written with one exception: I cast on with the larger needles before switching to the smaller for the ribbing, not a big deal, just thought I would mention it. I love this pattern, I may even knit another one for myself since this one is birthday gift. I will try to get a pic of it on the birthday girl woman, but she can be a bit camera shy.
