day eleven wrap-up

. . . in which, like a fool, I put a countdown timer on my blog.

Nothing like a little pressure.  If I calculated correctly, the flame goes out in Torino at 8pm, which is 11am local time form me. Ok, I can do that . . . knit faster, knit faster, knit faster.

Feb 20 - 1 repeat - 10 rows (128)(-32)
Feb 19 - 1 repeat - 10 rows knit 8 (118)(-32)
Feb 18 - 1 repeat - 10 rows knit 1, rip 6, knit 10 (110)(-30)
Feb 17 - 1 repeat - 10 rows (105)(-25)
Feb 16 - 1 repeat - 10 rows knit 1/2, rip 6.5, knit 5 (95)(-25)
Feb 15 - 1 repeat - 10 rows  knit 3 (96)(-14)
Feb 14 - 1 repeat - 10 rows - knit 11 (93) (-7)
Feb 13 - 1 repeat - 10 rows - knit 9, rip 7, knit 2 (82) (-8)
Feb 12 - 2 repeats - 20 rows - 15 rows (78)(-2)
Feb 11 - 2 repeats - 20 rows - 37 rows (63)(+3)
Feb 10 - Opening Ceremonies - 40 rows - 26 rows (-14)

I think I should clarify what the numbers above mean.  First is the date, number of repeats and equivalent rows I planned to knit.  If I did not knit the planned number of rows that is crossed out and the number of rows I did knit is listed.  The first number in () is the total number of rows knit overall and the second in () is where I am in relation to The Plan.

I am not going to comment on the way the knitting is going, I’m just not gonna.  grrr . . . stupid YOs.  On the plus side I was looking over the pattern and I have knitted enough rows to complete the small shawl. I had always planned on making the large shawl, but at this point I will settle for the small shawl and any more repeats added to it will be a bonus. I will start the edging on the 21st as planned with whatever I have at that point.  I mean, do I really need a 90″ shawl?

Yesterday was a very full day.  My folks came over to watch the kids while we went to sign the refi papers again (better interest rate, so I can’t complain too much).  On the way home from that we stopped and picked up a drain snake so hubby could fix the bathroom sink.  Back home, then out again to take whole family, with folks, to lunch.  My order from Elann.com was waiting on the doorstep when we got home, horray!

(pic to come, couldn’t gat a good one)

Kids helped hubby fix the bathroom sink. I helped too and broke a nail doing so, out the the nail salon to get it repaired and get a fill. This is the one really girley thing I do.  I have horrible nails, thin and brittle, so I started going last summer to get gels.  I love them, they ususally don’t break.

While I was out I decided to drive down to Acorn Street in Seattle to pick up a 40″ circ for my shawl, but they didn’t have it.  I am currently working on a 29″ clover bamboo and I feel switching to an addi turbo at this time would be a baaaaaad idea, and they didn’t have any bamboo addis.  oh, well the 29″ is ok for now, I just think it might get to be too much in another couple of repeats.  While I was at Acorn Street I looked thru the books and patterns, came home with EAC’s Butterfly Shawl and EZ’s Knitters Almanac.

After the kids were in bed, I spent the evening knitting while hubby and I watched Lost in Oblivion.  It is an amusing movie about the making of an indy film. We also watched some Battlestar Galacitca, good stuff.  Did I mention my wrist is starting to bother me, too much knitting I think, need to take some Tylenol.  I bet a lot of Olympic knitters are experiencing this, especially those of us who don’t usually knit like this.  Here’s hoping I don’t get Kwan-ed.

day eight wrap-up

. . . in which we signed a lot of autographs.

Feb 17 - 1 repeat - 10 rows (105)(-25)
Feb 16 - 1 repeat - 10 rows knit 1/2, rip 6.5, knit 5 (95)(-25)
Feb 15 - 1 repeat - 10 rows  knit 3 (96)(-14)
Feb 14 - 1 repeat - 10 rows - knit 11 (93) (-7)
Feb 13 - 1 repeat - 10 rows - knit 9, rip 7, knit 2 (82) (-8)
Feb 12 - 2 repeats - 20 rows - 15 rows (78)(-2)
Feb 11 - 2 repeats - 20 rows - 37 rows (63)(+3)
Feb 10 - Opening Ceremonies - 40 rows - 26 rows (-14)

While watching some movies yesterday evening (Madagasgar with the kids) and last night (Fantastic 4) I was able to knit my 10 rows, while I have not caught up I seem to have stopped the free fall.

Have I mentioned how much I love Netflix lately?  I love Netflix! It has all but stopped our purchase of movies, and saved us from some really bad ones we were sure we would like.

Yesterday morning after putting Daughter on the bus, Hubby and I went and signed the papers on our refinance.  Man, there is a lot to read and sign, and guess what, we get to do it again today.  There was an issue with the payment amount so some things have been reworked and we get to do it agan.

day six and seven wrap-up

Progress has not been good, here, at the Olympic Village Couch.

 Feb 16 - 1 repeat - 10 rows knit 1/2, rip 6.5, knit 5 (95)(-25)
Feb 15 - 1 repeat - 10 rows  knit 3 (96)(-14)
Feb 14 - 1 repeat - 10 rows - knit 11 (93) (-7)
Feb 13 - 1 repeat - 10 rows - knit 9, rip 7, knit 2 (82) (-8)
Feb 12 - 2 repeats - 20 rows - 15 rows (78)(-2)
Feb 11 - 2 repeats - 20 rows - 37 rows (63)(+3)
Feb 10 - Opening Ceremonies - 40 rows - 26 rows (-14)

The trend does not look promising, but in my defense there have been some troubling things going on behind the scenes.  Daughter’s trip to the ER, we are in the middle of refinancing out home and getting bids for some improvements (roof, gutters, windows), and Hubby has been working huge amounts of overtime.  So, I will continue to plod along and with the weekend comming up I will attempt to at least catch up.

day five wrap-up

I just realized I didn’t do my update for yesterday, so here it is.

 Feb 14 - 1 repeat - 10 rows - knit 11 (-7)
Feb 13 - 1 repeat - 10 rows - knit 9, rip 7, knit 10 knit 2 (-8)
Feb 12 - 2 repeats - 20 rows - 15 rows (-2)
Feb 11 - 2 repeats - 20 rows - 37 rows (+3)
Feb 10 - Opening Ceremonies - 40 rows - 26 rows (-14)

The first thing you may notice is that there was a change made to the knitting numbers for the 13th.  Well, I wrote the update after I had ripped the 7 rows, but before I had knitted the 10.  I planned on knitting the 10 rows, I really did.

Now, if you go back and look at the time on that post you will see that is was just after midnight, what the heck was I thinking?  Ten rows of lace after midnight, I think not, at least not that night, I got thru two.

Yesterday was the ‘Free Day’ for the Stashalong.  I did give in and buy yarn.  I have been wanting to start a sweater for myself, I had the pattern, but not the yarn.  Now the yarn is on order.

Yesterday was also Valentine’s Day and I hope you all had a great day.  We woke up to snow here.  The kids spent quite a bit of time outside playing in the snow, until it melted off about noon.  School was delayed 2hrs and that meant there was no morning kindergarden, so I didn’t have to worry about her at school with the Holter, at 2pm we took it off and Daughter looked like she had been attacked by an octopus.  She was so funny I took off the leads but she wouldn’t let me take off the ’stickers’, she had to do that.  She just pulled them all off, if I had done it she would have hollered like I was killing her, she does it, not a peep.

Son wanted a sticker so I took one of the extras and put it on him, her was so proud of it and kept pulling up his shirt and saying, “See, see!”  What a silly boy.
