around town

This is a smaller bag to go with the large duffle I made last month.  The woman I am making it for is going to use it as an “around town” diaper bag. The pattern is from “Easy to Make Totes with Zippers” by Cindy Taylor Oats of Taylor Made Designs.

I am very happy with these Quick Snap PUL covers. I’ve had the fabric, pattern and FOE in my stash for a couple of years because I was intimidated by the FOE. I could just kick myself for not making these earlier, they went together so easily . . . grrrrr.

My favorite are the white with the wide light blue FOE, I think the wide FOE looks better (and it’s easier to sew on IMO).

As soon as I can get some more PUL I will be making more covers in XL as these were all L.

I had quite a few largish scraps so I also made a NB size Quick Snap and 2 preemie Quick Wraps, these will be put away for future children, gifts or charity.

pajamas

Spring/Summer pajamas for DD from New Look 6334 view C. I made 4 sets and that should get her thru the summer. I may end up making a couple of nightgowns later as she loves nightgowns, but not until I finish DS’s pajamas. After making all these pajamas I am no longer afraid of narrow hems (I used to avoid them like the plague) . . . starch, starch, starch, and they came together beautifully.

Skort for DD. This is the first time I have made this pattern so I would call it a wearable muslin. I made the skort from some light weight denim I had in my stash.

The fit is OK, it is wearable but I will make a few adjustments on the next pair. I will make the shorts narrower in the leg and shorter in the crotch. Right now the legs of the shorts are almost as wide as the skirt, kind of defeats the modesty point of them. The crotch hangs down quite a bit so I will shorten the crotch and this will also fix the fact that you can see the shorts in the back hanging lower than the skirt. The pattern calls for 1/2″ elastic but I will use a wider elastic next time as I had to cut the elastic quite a bit shorter as it was not strong enough at this width for the fabric I used, but would prolly be OK with a lighter weight fabric.

I also made I made a tank top from some white rib knit that is embroidered to look like eyelet, very cute but white, not a very practical color for a dirt loving little girl.
